Bonesmith by Nicki Pau Preto is the first book in the House of the Dead Duology, a young adult fantasy novel about a disgraced bonesmith named Wren who must venture into a wasteland to rescue a kidnapped prince, forcing her into an uneasy alliance with an ironsmith from a rival house. The story features a unique magic system based on different houses (Bone, Gold, Iron, etc.), ghost-fighting warriors (Valkyrs), and a brewing conflict between the living and the undead.
